A FORMER police officer from Greasby has scooped a top award for his job role in security.
Daniel Pike worked for Merseyside Police for a couple of years, but after moving to Rhyl in North Wales, he decided to start a career in the security industry in 2011.
His wife, Jacqueline Pike said: "I think the inspiration to work in the police came from his granddad. He has always just been a person that has always stuck up for what's right."
Over the past 12 years, Daniel has worked in many sectors within the industry including close protection, risk and consultancy, and eventually worked his way up to become a regional manager overseeing 70 staff and working with 45 customers.
He currently works as the UK Divisional security lead overseeing security risk and resilience across UK security projects.
Over the last three years, the 35-year-old has been a finalist on six occasions in industry awards including recognition from the British Citizen Awards for his contribution to society and being an influence to others in 2017.

Winning the award
Last Tuesday (April 18) Daniel took a trip to London for The Security Institute Awards and beat four other nominees, scooping the President’s Award for Young Professional of the Year, after being recognised for his work and being a future leader.
The Security Institute is the UK's largest professional membership body for security Professionals. The awards gala is held every year to recognise members who have made outstanding contributions to the industry.
Jacqueline added: "In 2021 Daniel graduated from the University of Leicester studying a master's degree in security and risk management whilst working a full-time demanding job and raising a newborn child.
"I'm just so proud of him. Just seeing where he was to where he is now, he's just worked so hard and that's why I want him to get some recognition.
"He's still so young and for what he's achieved in the industry is amazing."
She went on to explain that her husband has previously saved life at sea and protected life during an armed robbery, putting his own at risk on both occasions, and has recently received sponsorship to join the Livery Company, the worshipful company of security professionals.
