A Wirral woman who transformed her life by losing almost four stone is using this success to help others achieve their weight loss dreams too.
Alison Sait became a Slimming World Consultant in November 2015.
She runs her groups in Higher Bebington and in Hoylake each week.
Alison shares her story in the hope that it may inspire you to come along and join her new group opening in Hoylake on a Thursday evening.
Alison said: "As I hit my late 40s, I realised that my weight was beginning to creep up, but being a busy mum with a full-time job, I had learned to put myself on the back burner as I didn't feel I had time to worry about me.
"Although inside I was deeply unhappy about how I looked and felt, it didn’t stop the bad eating habits creeping into my life.
"Some days I felt so tired, I often found it much easier to just grab a packet of digestive biscuits and a cuppa, than start cooking an evening meal, especially by the time I arrived home after the gym which was often around 8pm.
"The silly thing is, I always prepped and plated up an evening meal for my family, but I never did the same for myself.
"Being vegetarian trying to figure out what I was going to eat was always a headache, especially as prepping meat-based meals for my loved ones took up much of my precious, which resulted in me neglecting my own needs to focus on theirs.
"I always looked forward to Friday night as it was always chippy night - which meant no cooking!
"Curry and chips washed down with a bottle of wine often followed by a big bar of chocolate, was the weekend routine.
"After work or the gym, several times a week, I would meet my hubby for dinner in the pub, as it was easier and less hassle all round, alcohol, pudding was always on the menu and it wasn’t long before both our waistlines started to increase.
"I always avoided full-length mirrors, only having a small head and shoulders one in the bathroom, which kept me in denial as long as my head and shoulders looked ok I was good to go!
"I was constantly in denial about my weight issue, but deep down it niggled me. One day whilst driving past my local church, I saw a banner, advertising slimming world and I took that as my sign, my mind was made up that I was going to join!"
After a long conversation with her husband Chris, they decided to join as a couple as they needed the support at home and Alison needed Chris to join to understand how the bad their eating habits were.
"Our unhealthy lifestyles were harming our health as well as how unhealthy our weight was.
"I really hoped to pick up some good tips on how to make meals we could all enjoy together as a family.
"We joined our local Slimming World group and were welcomed by the Consultant, Diane, who told us all about the plan and explained how we would be supported in the group each week with IMAGE Therapy (Individual Motivation and Group Experience) Imagine my delight when I discovered there was endless vegetarian recipes I could enjoy that could easily be adapted to suit my family’s needs as well as mine!"
"Fast forward six months and I’d lost 3st 12lbs and had dropped five dress sizes, I was over the moon and my husband lost over three stone too, and we were eating much more food than we used to it was simply healthier food choices with lots of fruit and vegetables and a few treats as well."
On becoming a Slimming World consultant, Alison said: "I love my role that much, I am opening another group in Hoylake on a Thursday evening, as I want to reach out to many more people who need my support.
"My third group opens on Thursday, April 20 at 5.30pm and 7pm at St Luke’s Methodist Church, 19 Market Street, Hoylake.
"My other groups run on a Tuesday morning at 7.30am and 9am in Higher Bebington at Victoria Hall Community Trust and Thursday morning at 7.30am and 9am in Hoylake at St Hildeburgh’s Parish Church.”
