A WIRRAL nurse has described the terrifying moment a bottle was reportedly thrown at her car, shattering a passenger window.

Wendy Cross was on her way home from a work after a 12-and-a-half hour shift on Thursday night (March 16) when the incident took place.

She was driving along Rake Road in Bromborough at around 8.10pm just before the roundabout, next to the Tan box shop, when the passenger window "exploded like a nail bomb".

Wendy, who is a member of clinical support staff at the hospital, was showered in glass and had to slam on the brakes. She sustained injuries that have forced her to take time off work.

Recalling the terrifying incident Wendy, who had only passed her test on March 6, told the Globe: "You don't expect this sort of thing when you're driving home from a shift at work.

"When the glass smashed, it was like a bomb going off.

"I then drove around to the village in shock and ran into the Pina Loca and the staff called the police as I was dripping with blood and the Bromborough social club came to my aid.

"I was in hospital with neck injuries and had my head taped to blocks and had CT scans and now I'm off work.

"I literally thought someone had thrown a petrol bomb at the window. It was terrifying.

"I don't get the mentality of some teenagers and why this sort of thing is happening.

"Admittedly, I was no saint growing up, but I certainly wouldn't of dreamed of throwing something at a car and putting peoples' lives in danger.

The incident has been reported to Merseyside Police, who have been approached for comment.
