A FLORIST in Ellesmere Port has announced it will be closing its shop and working from home due to the "huge rise in energy costs".
Blooming Lovely, located in Whitby, is owned and run by husband and wife, Dawn and Steve Corcoran.
Over 11 and a half years, the pair have won multiple industry awards, including British Florist Association’s Retail Florist of the Year and British Florist Association’s Website of the Year.
Yesterday (March 2) Dawn and Steve announced in a post on Facebook that they would be closing their shop and relocating their business at home due to "the huge rise in energy costs". They also said that they had noticed a "massive decline" in footfall.
The shop will close for good on Monday, March 20 with the business relocating to a studio at home offering its service over the phone, website or via email.
The Facebook post
The post read: "The huge rise in energy costs, the astronomical running costs of owning a shop and buying the quality of flowers we insist on using means that we can no longer absorb the costs.

"We’ve tried to think of any way possible to make savings without cutting corners and this is the only fisable way we can see.
"It has been an extremely difficult decision to make but we will be closing the shop and relocating our business to our home address where we have a fabulous new studio.
"Sadly we won't be able to serve you in person initially but we will still be here for all your floral occasions over the phone, website, click & collect whatsapp, email etc. so we can still provide you with the same service and quality we have always worked so hard to deliver.
"Nothing changes just the address!
"We have loved our time in Whitby village, but in the 11.5 years that we've been here we have noticed the massive decline in footfall and traffic. Indicating that people's buying habits have changed dramatically.
"So for now we look forwards to Mother's Day and receiving all your orders for your beautiful Mum's.
"Our last trading day at the shop will be Monday, March 20 and we will start in our new studio on Tuesday, March 21, so hopefully no break in service.
"We thank you so much for all of your continued support and kindness over the years."
