An amber weather warning was issued for Wirral as the borough braced itself for Storm Eunice’s 70mph winds.
Forecasters warned residents to stay indoors due to the extremely strong winds and flying debris that could cause a “danger to life”.
Wirral saw astronomical tides along its coasts as waves reached heights of 10.7m. Schools closed and public transport faced cancellations and delays.
