TWO friends who opened a dessert shop during lockdown have taken on a new business venture on Neston's high street.

Claire Atherton, 34, from Neston and Chelsea Johnston, 31, from Oxton met while working in the childcare industry but decided they wanted a career change in January 2020.

Speaking to the Globe, Claire said: "Me and Chelsea went on a night out once and she stayed at mine. We went on Just Eat and she said 'you've got nothing here'."

The friends then opened CeeCee's, a dessert and milkshake bar in Little Neston which serves a range of delicious treats.

Claire added: "We left our pre-school job, signed our lease for CeeCee's and then a week later it was lockdown.

"When people were allowed to start going out for walks, around June, it really took off, because people were off school and work."

Two and a half years on, Claire and Chelsea were looking to expand their business and get CeeCee's on the Neston high street.

'Everyone misses it'

"The original idea was to bring CeeCee's into Neston but when Paisley Grey closed, we didn't want to change it," Claire said.

"We're such big fans of Paisley, everyone misses it, I miss it.

"It's nice to carry on what David and Margaret started, they are so lovely as well."

Claire and Chelsea will keep most of the menu, along with the interior of the cafe and how people remember it.

"It's nerve-wracking because it was so popular and you don't want to be compared, but also really exciting."

Paisley Grey will officially be re-opening on Monday, February 20.
