OFFICERS have identified some of the young people who smashed the windows of a police car.

A gang of masked youths smashed a police car window at the Croft Retail Park in Bromborough.

The incident, which took place on Friday, January 27, was the second evening in a row that a police car had been vandalised.

Officers have since visited the anti-social youths and their parents and said they have “informed them of the consequences” if the behaviour continues.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Team Bebington officers have identified some of the young persons involved in the anti-social behaviour at Croft retail park, Bromborough.

“Officers have visited the youths and their parents and informed them of the consequences if the behaviour continues. Schools have also been made aware.”

Merseyside Police also warned that more parents will be receiving a visit from officers this week as they continue to investigate the criminal damage offences.

Officers also warned parents to keep an eye on their children ahead of the teacher strikes today (Wednesday, February 1).

The spokesperson added: “Other youths and parents will be getting a knock on the door in the days to come. Enquiries are continuing this evening in relation to the criminal damage offences.

“If your child is off school on Wednesday 01/02/23 due to industrial action, please ensure you know where they are and what they are doing.”
