AN investigation is underway following a crash in Birkenhead that saw a motorcyclist in hospital with injuries to his leg and face.

Emergency services were called to Laird Street in Birkenhead at around 7pm on Thursday (January 12) to a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a black Renault Megane at the junction of Lansdowne Street in Birkenhead.

The driver of the motorbike was taken to hospital with injuries to his leg and face.

The other driver of the black Renault remained at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries.

Laird Street was closed whilst both vehicles were removed from the area.

A Merseyside Police statement read: "An investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
