SINCE the news broke about the tragic death of Elle Edwards, Globe readers have shared an outpouring of sadness.

Elle, 26, was shot at the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village while with her sister and friends on Christmas Eve.

Police do not believe the beautician was the target of the attack when a gunman opened fire shortly before midnight.

A murder investigation is ongoing, with three people in custody.

The Wallasey community and wider Wirral borough have been left devasted - and the mood of sombre and shock has been reflected in the messages shared by Globe readers.

Tributes have poured in for Elle, with people describing her as a "sweet, innocent and beautiful" young woman.

'This has hit us all in Wirral'

Tracey Samuel Richards said: "This has hit us all on the Wirral.

"Heartbreaking is an understatement, same age as my son. Her family's loss will be unbearable. Rest in peace sweet girl."

Nicola Roberts said: "This is absolutely heartbreaking for the family.

"Can't stop thinking of them, poor girl had her life ahead of her. Something needs to be done about all these shootings, happening to often to innocent people."

Jane Howick said: "Utterly horrendous.

"I thought I’d never hear that it would happen in my home town, poor girl, her family will never get over this!!"
