THE Lighthouse Inn is to remain closed over the New Year period after the shooting of Elle Edwards, it has been confirmed.
The pub, Wallasey Village and the car park has been closed since Christmas Eve when a murder investigation was launched after Ms Edwards was gunned down while drinking with friends and family at the popular pub.
Yesterday (Wednesday, December 28) Merseyside Police confirmed that the pub's car park had re-opened along with the Wallasey Village road in both directions.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Owners who had left their vehicles at the Lighthouse Inn pub car park can now come and collect them.
"However, owners of vehicles will need to produce identification to officers to confirm that they are the rightful owner, and will be asked to provide their name, address, date of birth, and telephone number before their vehicle can be collected."
This morning (Thursday, December 29) The Lighthouse Inn released the following statement on Facebook:
“As our community is in mourning following the tragic event on Christmas Eve, we have made the decision to remain closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, out of respect for Elle, her family and the other victims affected and in support of our team.
"We are contacting everyone who had a booking with us over these two days and are truly sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but hope you understand our decision.
“Take care everyone and please look after each other.
“The team at The Lighthouse.”
It is unknown when The Lighthouse will re-open.
