A FIVE-YEAR-OLD from Ellesmere Port has made lots of children in hospital smile this Christmas by gifting them advent calendars.

Ellzah Burgess was born full-term and was in neo-natal for three weeks with meningitis.

She then started walking a little later than average, and her mum noticed her legs were "bowing in".

Speaking to the Globe, Ellzah's mum, Ashley Burgess said: "The doctors told me she was new to walking and she would develop time."

Soon after, the doctors realised it wasn't right that Ellzah's legs were bowing inwards and sent her to get checks at The Countess of Chester Hospital.

Ellzah, still to this day, has not received a diagnosis even after multiple tests and checks at the Countess and Alder Hey.

She has appointments every two months with different doctors and has a wheelchair as she can't walk very far.

After an appointment in October, Ellzah saw a little boy come in on a hospital bed and be rolled into the ward.

Ashley added: "She asked me what was wrong with the boy, and I said I didn't know.

"She asked if he would be in hospital for trick or treating and I said it would depend what was wrong with him."

Ellzah decided on Halloween she would take treats into the Countess to give to the children.

For Christmas, Ellzah has received advent calendar donations from her school, friends and family which she also took to the Countess on Monday, November 28.

Ashley said: "She feels absolutely amazing. She's been made up that people have reacted back to her and she can't wait to visit again."

On December, 23, Ellzah will visit the Countess once again to gift sweets, chocolates and biscuits to all the children in hospital for Christmas.
