A THEATRE group based in Neston are re-starting their acting club for people over the age of 50.
Little Actors Theatre have received funding from the Tesco Bags of Help Fund which will be used to re-start their Brightlights over 50s acting group.
This project involves the challenge of working on a shoestring budget to produce a community play. Working with professional actor/writer/director Mike Lockley, the group will meet every Friday 11am-1pm to rehearse a play.
The club members will be involved in sourcing or make their own props, costumes and set as well as learning a range of technical skills.
There will be a role for everyone in the group no matter what their experience or confidence level.
In their classes, the group will prepare a play for the Cheshire One Act Drama Festival in March 2023.
This year the group had success at the Leverhulme Drama Festival with ‘The Queen and the Weaver’, taking home the set design trophy.
Samantha Giblin, artistic director of Little Actors, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer Brightlights Theatre to the over 50s in the community. This activity has contributed over the years to helping tackle social isolation and loneliness.
"We hope that people joining will be challenged by putting on a show and make new friends and have fund into the bargain."
Mike Lockley will host an information meeting on Friday, December 9 at 11am for any new and returning members.
This will be at the Little Actors Office in Neston Town Hall.
