A COUPLE have set up a local business selling items for a fraction of the price, helping people save money on bills and Christmas presents.

Nicola Forster, 39, owns the company The Dog Shack, which is based at Molly’s Urban Farm in Eastham.

Her and her partner Charlotte Staines, 30, set up ‘Half Price or Less Wirral’ as a side-line business to help Nicola’s business but also Charlotte’s new business venture of opening a restaurant in Birkenhead.

Half Price or Less Wirral deals with end-of-line stock being sold for a fraction of the retail price.

All stock is grade A returns which means that in a lot of cases the product will have been opened and occasionally boxes can become damaged in transit.

The pair, who live in Heswall, quickly realised that people were buying items from them to save money during the cost-of-living and energy crisis.

Speaking to the Globe, Charlotte said: “The business took off in such a short space of time.

“When we saw the kind of stock we had, we thought it is actually a brilliant way to help people and give a little bit back.”

The couple sell items such as heated airers, which cost 8p a minute to run.

Charlotte added: “Selling things like our heated airer, not only help us in our business, but help others during the energy crisis.

“We’ve been able to help households with Christmas as well, and I feel like we’ve made it more affordable for them.

“A woman told us that she is in a wheelchair and has carers come in. She said that she bought one of our air fryers and it’s made her so much more independent and be able to cook for herself.”

Charlotte explained that giving back to the community is something her and Nicola like to do.

She added: “Me and Nicola feel like we’re able to provide things to people in the community that are affordable.

“We have always found a way to give back in whatever business venture we take.

“We get nothing but positive feedback from the community.

“People are so worried about Christmas, not just presents, but food and heating as well, but their salaries aren’t going up.”

The warehouse is located at The Dog Shack, Molly's Urban Farm, 1392 New Chester Rd, Eastham, Wirral, CH62 9AQ.
