POLICE have warned residents to stay “vigilant” after suspected fake notes were found circulating in the Rock Ferry area.

On Tuesday, November 15, officers searched flats in the local area and found an amount of suspected counterfeit £5 notes.

Following the completed checks, the money was sized by Merseyside Police and Forum Housing staff at the Beacon Project at Pembroke Court in Rock Ferry.

Officers are warning members of the public to “be vigilant” in the run-up to Christmas while using cash.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Local policing officers worked with Forum Housing staff at The Beacon Project.

“A grounds search and flat checks were completed and an amount of what is suspected to be counterfeit £5 notes were seized.

“Based on this information we ask all members of the public to be vigilant in the run-up to Christmas whilst using cash to shop when receiving change, or selling items via internet selling sites.”
