VETERANS, families, civic dignitaries and people from across Wirral turned out in their hundreds to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.
People from across the borough marked the occasion with poignant ceremonies at their respective war memorials this morning, Sunday, November 13.
A real honour to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph at Hamilton Square today as Leader of the Council. To all our brave men, women and animals. Never forgotten #WeWillRememberThem pic.twitter.com/NZ1d9F3uqk

Bugles were played, wreaths were laid, and silence was observed as residents reflected on those who have given their lives in the service of their country.
The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Jeff Green, led the Civic Service at the Cenotaph in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead where he was joined by His Majesty The King’s representative, Deputy Lieutenant Nigel Lanceley, along with other civic dignitaries and representatives from the armed forces, veterans groups, cadets and the emergency services.
The Mayor said: “Every year thousands of people come together at war memorials in towns and villages across Wirral to share a few moments of reflection and show their appreciation for all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
"Those services are only possible thanks to the hard work of the many volunteers who organise and take part in them, so we all owe them our gratitude."
Today (13 November), we paused to remember and show our appreciation for those who have given so much to keep us safe.
