MEMBERS of the local community will receive Builder Book project boxes as part of a campaign to promote creativity and literacy for children, young people and their families across Wirral.

The boxes, created by Thornton Hough author Natalie Reeves Billing and colleague Jude Lennon, are filled with books and activities to help children’s mental health.

Builder Book is a Split Perspectivz initiative, a Merseyside community interest company driven by Natalie alongside fellow children’s author, Jude.

Natalie told the Globe: “The vision of Split Perspectivz is of a world where education is free and accessible for all children and part of Builder Book’s mission is to work locally and collaboratively to identify the children most in need of learning resources and to donate Builder Book boxes as far and wide across Wirral as possible.”

Wirral Council and North Birkenhead’s Cradle to Career are among those who will receive the Builder Boxes and will help to distribute them to several organisations across Wirral including local schools.

Tranmere FC will also receive the books and distribute them to members of the local community.

Wirral Mayor Cllr Jeff Green volunteered to help assemble the many thousands of Builder Books being distributed to schools, community centres, parent groups, and town halls.

Janice Bluett-Duncan, Programme Manager for Education & Services, Cradle to Career said: “We put the people of North Birkenhead at the heart of education services of local decision-making.

“Working with partners and the community we have identified a gap in local services around mental health support for children and young people.

“The Builder Book project as part of the Boat Of Hope campaign is fantastic, making mental health resources available for children and families.

“With its focus on mental health, personal development and literacy, it links with the wider Cradle To Career programme and we are excited to be funding it for families in North Birkenhead.”

Natalie and Jude launched the Builder Book boxes with Cllr Green at Novotel on Thursday, November 10.
