A CAFÉ in Ellesmere Port is celebrating five years since the business launched.
Lizzie Jewkes, and her eldest daughter Cat Ellerington, from Ellesmere Port, opened Grace Tearoom & Café five years ago.
Speaking to the Globe about when the tearoom opened, Lizzie said: “I took voluntary redundancy and I really wanted to open up a tearoom.
“I just felt that Ellesmere Port needed somewhere lovely and that provided food for everyone.
“We immediately found out that five years ago people did not provide for vegans, so we very quickly moved onto an entire vegan menu, which has been so popular.”
The café provides a wide range of gluten free and vegan options on their menu.
In addition to their vintage style Tea Room, the café also provide afternoon tea on their vintage china.
After needing a bigger venue, Grace Tearoom & Café moved to Whitby Road. The café is a Victorian building, has its own car park and garden and is dog friendly.
Last week, the café celebrated their five-year anniversary.
Lizzie said: “To celebrate we made a large cake which we gave out to customers, but we ran out, so we had to make another one.
“It’s been really difficult for hospitality, so it was really nice to thank our customers.
“I’m really pleased we’ve survived. We had people come in last week who have been coming pretty much the whole five years.
“I’m really grateful that people have stuck with us.”
Grace Tearoom & Café is situated on 72 Whitby Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0AA.
