PLANS for a barn to house alpacas have been submitted to Wirral Council by a farm in Prenton.
The application by Higher Farm on Roman Road is to build a barn around eight metres high with an area of 425sqm.
If approved, the proposed location of the barn would be on green belt land 45 metres away from Prenton Dell Road.
A planning and design statement submitted to the council said: "The existing site comprises a two-storey sustantial residential dwelling, an existing agricultural barn structure and further stable structures and a couple of shipping containers for the storage of building materials at the end of the site.
"Despite the buildings on the site, the vast majority of the plot remains as open fields with a small lake at the bottom of the site.
"The fields have been used for the grazing of animals for a number of years.
"The site lies within an area of green belt and is flanked on one side by the housing estate of Prenton Dell, the Prenton Golf Course on the adjacent edge and at the foot of the site lies the land of Prenton Rugby Club.
"The proposed structure would act as a building to provide strorage for the needs of alpacas on site."
The barn would be built with timber cladding and have a metal roof.
