Covid-19 vaccination centres in Wirral are running walk-in clinics tomorrow, in efforts to further increase the number of people with protection against the virus.
As exclusively revealed by the Globe yesterday, the walk-in clinics, running at Wirral’s four GP-led Vaccination Centres, aim to make it easier and more convenient than ever for eligible people who haven’t had the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine yet to come forward - crucially boosting the numbers of people receiving their first dose vaccines.
It comes as the NHS works through the final cohorts to be called, with those aged 18 and over now being invited for their vaccine.
Dr Paula Cowan, Chair of NHS Wirral CCG and local GP said: “With the help of NHS staff, partners and volunteers, we’ve made incredible progress with the vaccine programme in Wirral.
“We know that younger people have commitments which can often make it difficult to attend appointments during the working week, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to come forward quickly when they become eligible.
“We’d also love to welcome people in earlier cohorts who haven’t come forward yet to our walk-in vaccine sessions and if they’ve got any questions, they’ll be able to chat to one of the staff on site first.”
People will be able to attend a walk-in clinic at four vaccination centres with no appointment needed. Clinic times vary - a full list of participating sites can be found below.
Vaccines will be available on a first come, first served basis and will be subject to availability. Anyone with a pre-booked appointment at participating clinics should attend at their timed slot and receive their vaccine as planned.
More than 373,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given in Wirral since the vaccination programme – the largest in NHS history – launched six months ago.
