An author from Wirral will be creating boxes filled with books and activities to promote creativity and literacy in children.
Natalie Reeves Billing is an award-winning children’s author and has created Builder Book alongside social enterprise, Split Perspctivz, comic artists Jonathon Tottey and Chris Williamson and fellow children’s author Jude Lennon.
The Builder Book project aim is to make education free and accessible for all children around the world regardless of learning barriers or socio-economic factors.
Natalie said: “I will be releasing the Builder Book just before the summer holidays and I’m looking for more partners in the community to get on board.
“I want to thank the local businesses that have already joined in supporting the project.”
Natalie has also joined forces with the Liverpool 6 Community Association and Beautiful New Beginnings to identify the children most in need of learning resources to send the Builder Book boxes to.
Mike Morris, Co-Director of Writing on the Wall and Chair of the 2021 Liverpool Year of Writing, said: “This initiative from Natalie can play a vital part in developing children’s literacy and creativity across the Liverpool City Region, and is something the 2021 Liverpool Year of Writing and Writing on the Wall are proud to support as part of our work.”
To fund the roll-out of boxes, Natalie has been working with local businesses and is currently seeking more donations to help her reach as many children as possible.
She said: “I am incredibly grateful for all of the support the project has received so far any contribution will make a big difference.”
