An archery club based in Wallasey is appealing for new shooting grounds to use during the summer after losing their original site.
Wirral Archers is one of the oldest clubs in the country with a history spanning over 160 years.
Over the years the club has moved around mostly sharing grounds with local rugby clubs.
Member of Wirral Archers, Tim Pumford, said: “I’ve been a part of the club for 35 years. My mum and dad were also a part of it for over 40 years so for some of us it’s quite an important part of our lives.
“It’s a very good and friendly club so it would be devastating if it ever had to close especially because there’s so much history behind it.”
In 2019 the club was forced into an upheaval which meant they had to leave their shared grounds at New Brighton Rugby Club.
They have since been sharing grounds with Bebington Archers in Oxton however their time was cut short due to COVID-19.
Now the club is desperately trying to find new grounds to shoot on.
Tim said: “Bebington have very kindly let us share their field with them and have gone above and beyond to keep us going so we are very thankful.
“We just want our own club identity so we can do things our own way again.
“A lot of schools or farmers who would be interested in us are shut because of Covid so I am hoping there might be something along the line for us.”
