POLICE have seized drugs and made a number of arrests as part of an operation targeting organised crime groups.
Merseyside Police tweeted that there had been an increased in officers yesterday evening (Saturday) in Birkenhead as part of Operation Target.
A police spokesman said: "We are reducing serious violent offences in the area by targeting a main cause of these offences - organised crime groups.
"The proactive work this evening (Saturday) has seen drugs seized and three arrests."
Officers conducted numerous stop searches in and around Harrowby Road, Birkenhead, to target drug dealing and the serious violence such organised crime creates.
Two people were found in possession of class A drugs and officers searched a house following the drug seizure.
A vehicle was sighted driving erratically and the driver was stopped and spoken to. She was searched and found in possession of heroin and failed a roadside drugs wipe for cocaine. She was arrested.
