The grounds of Arrowe Park Hospital are bursting with colour this week, following the installation of 1000 charity ‘Wirral Rainbow Flowers’.

The installation is a Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) tribute to mark how everyone has come together to support the NHS and the Wirral community.

The rainbow has become a national symbol of thanks to the NHS and key workers and the trust says it is a fitting way to recognise this service to others.

Victoria Burrows, Head of Fundraising at WUTH and WUTH Charity, said: “This installation is honouring the NHS, fellow local key workers and volunteers.

"It’s also a tribute to all those in our community who are helping to stop the spread of the virus and save lives, by following the expert advice.

"We hope it brightens peoples’ days whilst raising funds for our COVID-19 appeal.”

A limited number of Rainbow Flowers have been specially commissioned from the British Ironwork and are available for a minimum donation of £25.

To reserve one and show support for our local hospital, or perhaps in memory or celebration of a special person, please contact the WUTH Charity Office on 0151 4827788 or via www.wuthcharity.org

All funds raised will go to WUTH Charity, which is the official charity of Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH). The Charity supports patients and staff at the Trust’s Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral Women and Children’s and Clatterbridge Hospitals.

The Rainbow Flowers will next be installed at Clatterbridge Hospital and once the installation is complete the flowers will be delivered to donors as a memory to keep forever.

Thanks to the generosity of Wirral residents and businesses, the Globe-backed WUTH Covid-19 Support Fund, which was set up back in April at the start of the coronavirus health pandemic, has so far raised over £116,000 to help support patients and staff in the fight against Covid-19.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest acute NHS Trusts in the North West of England, serving a population of more than 320,000.
