A CHARITY helping people with learning disabilities in Wirral has been given an £84,000 boost.
The donation, from Steve Morgan Foundation, will help Wirral Mencap provide even more support and opportunities.
The Birkenhead-based organisation's services are open to people from across Wirral.
News of its donation was announced at the recent annual meeting by Gosia McKane from The Steve Morgan Foundation.
The funding comes at an important time, as Wirral Mencap launches their new three-year strategy.
Interim chief executive Sharon Nicholson said: "This is a fantastic start to 2020 for us.
"Like many small charities, we rely on the support we receive from our wonderful team of volunteers and fundraisers to allow us to continue to deliver our services.
"The generosity of The Steve Morgan Foundation will provide stable, predictable funding over the next three years, and will allow us to continue to deliver excellent services to local people.
"We’re delighted that The Steve Morgan Foundation have recognised the work that we are delivering and have chosen to come alongside us and offer this incredible financial support."
The Steve Morgan Foundation was created in 2001 by Steve Morgan CBE and has has given more than £300m of funding to local good causes.
Gosia McKane, from the Foundation continued: "Small charities like Wirral Mencap have a huge impact on the lives of those they help and we are delighted to be able to give something back to the local community in this way."
Typical drop-in activities at Wirral Mencap include a lunch club, social club and a health club.
