An offshore windfarm is the barer of good news after issuing over £1million in grants to a variety of local good causes.

Thirteen organisations around Liverpool Bay have been selected for the current round of funding, which is part of Ørsted’s Burbo Bank Extension Community Fund.

The latest awards take the total number of projects supported to 116, with total funds awarded reaching £1,012,500 since the Fund launched in May 2015.

The full list of organisations awarded grants under this latest round of the Community Benefit Fund are as follows:

• Wirral Debt Advice - £4,350

• British Wireless for the Blind Fund, Sefton - £3,293

• Sharks Community Trust, The Wirral – Mental Health Education for Young People - £12,000

• B 4 Biodiversity CIC, Community Beekeeping in Sefton - £5,000

• The Inclusion Network CIC, Bootle - £15,000

• NSPCC, Protect and Respect: North Wales - £10,000

• Bootle Christ Church Youth and Community Centre - £12,000

• All Afloat Sailability, Rhyl Marine Lake - £15,376

• The Reach Mens Centre CIC, Bootle - £4,874

• Creative Spaces Company (Liverpool) CIC, The Story Box - £5,000

• The Mix Crosby, Afterschool Youth Café - £4,855

• Ykids Ltd, Kingsley and Co Children's Literary Enterprise Bootle - £15,000

• Crea8ing Careers, Wirral – Family Education, Community Wellbeing and Resilience Development - £10,252

All Afloat Manager, Rosy Hearn, said: “All Afloat are delighted to have been awarded a grant from Ørsted for £15,376 through their Burbo Bank Extension Community Fund for a Sailability project on Rhyl Marine Lake.

"Working alongside Rhyl Yacht Club, All Afloat will be able to provide fully accessible sailing sessions to local disabled children and adults. We are so excited about the project and can’t wait to introduce inclusive sailing in the area.”

Each year for the expected 25 year lifetime of the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm, approximately £225,000 will be made available for community projects, which will benefit the local area.
