HERE are the Wirral Council candidates you can vote for at next month’s local elections.

The list has been revealed ahead of the poll on May 3, when residents will vote to select just over a third of the local authority’s 66 councillors.

It means a seat is up for grabs in each of the borough’s 22 wards – with two up for grabs in Hoylake and Meols following the recent retirement of Conservative Councillor John Hale.

The ruling Labour party will contest all 23 seats, as it looks to retain and add to its 39-seat majority.

The Conservatives – the second biggest party with 21 seats – is also putting forward a candidate in each ward.

The Liberal Democrats will look to bolster their five councillors by putting forward a candidate in all but one of the 22 wards. The Green Party, which currently has a single Wirral councillor to its name, will field candidates in every ward.

The Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts party is putting forward two candidates, while UKIP will attempt to win just one of the borough’s seats. There will also be one independent candidate.
