WIRRAL'S alleged Labour council has served up yet more misery for the area's working-class and poor in its budget proposals for 2017-2018 - £45 million worth of cuts to vital services and jobs and a five per cent council tax increase.
So we pay more for less.
Council leader Philip Davies is not only doing the Tories' dirty work for them, he is also using the same devious and dishonest language, describing this latest cuts package as "savings".
He blithely tells the workers and unemployed people of Wirral to expect "savings" that are swingeing cuts of £130 million by 2020.
No wonder Labour voters in Copeland and Stoke stayed away from the polling stations last Thursday.
Only one in two voters turned out in Copeland and one in three in Stoke.
These abysmal turnout figures in constituencies previously recorded as "safe" Labour seats show massive disillusionment and disenchantment with Labour as an alternative to the Tories, even when the Tory government is inflicting savage cuts to the public services, resulting in unprecedented crisis in the NHS, social care for the elderly and in education for the young people.
Working-class people vote Labour to fight Tory cuts, not to rubber- stamp them like Cllr Davies and company.
James Roberts, Wallasey.
