YOUNG people across Wirral are being invited to apply for a place on a citizenship programme.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) gives those aged 16 and 17 the chance to go on short breaks and gain work experience which can contribute towards university and job applications.
This year's scheme includes an outdoor pursuits adventure, a camping trip to Wirral Country Park and the planning of an important social action project in their local community.
Councillor Chris Meaden, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: "Every year Wirral's young people spend their holidays camping, learning and giving something back to their local area through the National Citizen Service.
"It's a wonderful scheme which encourages a community-spirited outlook and where you are guaranteed to make new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
"With so many places on this year’s scheme, I would urge anyone who is thinking about taking part to apply as soon as possible because we know it will be very popular."
This year’s scheme will run three tranches throughout the summer and 180 places.
It can also be integrated with the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and with citizenship lessons.
