TRANMERE Rovers face Wrexham in what promises to be an 'explosive' derby match tomorrow night.
More than 1,000 fans will follow Gary Brabin’s side to the Racecourse Ground on the back of three consecutive victories having secured their biggest win at Prenton Park in three years.
They moved into the National League play-off positions following a 4-0 victory over promotion rivals Bromley at Prenton Park on Saturday. Wrexham were beaten 3-0 by Chester at the weekend.
During a press conference at the club this afternoon, Brabin said there was a sense of optimism about tomorrow night's match.
He said: "We are really looking forward to this game. It's pleasing when you get the result and performance like we did on Saturday.
"We're coming up against another tough opponent on Tuesday and it's one that the players are looking forward to.
"We try to approach the game in the same manner. We realise it is going to be another tough one for us.
"We're on the crest of a wave in terms of confidence after Saturday's performance but we realise it's going to be a different game to that but one the lads will be going in to full of confidence.
"There's no disputing how big a game it is.
"We have a few ex-Wrexham players here as well so I'm sure there's enough spice there to make it that extra bit special.
"But we're trying to look at is as just another game. We want to go there, show what we're about and hopefully get the right result."
Assessing tomorrow night's opponents, he continued: "We realise that we will be going into the game against a bit of a wounded animal, following their derby defeat by Chester on Saturday.
"We need to focus on ourselves and not take the opposition likely; they're going to be a competitive team this year and will be wanting to bounce back after a disappointing result on Saturday.
"We have to give the fans something to smile about.
"I think we are getting better, but we're coming up against different opposition each game and we need to adapt to that.
"If we can perform consistently, then we can only get better."
Brabin will have midfielder Steven Jennings and striker James Norwood available after serving suspensions.
Brabin continued: "We don't have a massive squad but we want it to be healthy and competitive and that's certainly the case.
"When you look around to the bench and you have got players on form there is good.
"We've got those extra numbers on the top of a fantastic performance and result on Saturday which can only be a real plus."
It will be the first time the two clubs have played eachother in 10 years.
Steve Jennings said: "It's a long 10 years for both sets of fans.
"It's going to be a big game for both sides, big occasion, and I just we go there, play our local game and enjoy it.
"I hope we can give the fans something to smile about. It will give the lads a boost knowing that the fans are around.
"It's a local derby, too, so who wouldn't be up for it?
"I'm expecting it to be a local derby atmosphere, explosive. As soon as we settle into the game, the better for us."
