THE tale of a First World War soldier has been re-told by a group of Wirral students.
Stanley School’s annual summer concert tells the story of the soldier through letters, music and drama to his son back home.
Each child at the special school has a part to play, with children from Early Years right up to junior classes all featuring in the performance.
Teacher Jinny Lewtas Morgan said: “Our children face many challenges in everyday life so to be involved with a project like this which carries such a meaningful message is a huge achievement for each and every one.
“We chose this subject in memory of the centenary of the First World War and all its brave soldiers.
“We’ve been studying this in history and it felt quite fitting to carry the children’s work further by dramatising what they had learned.”
Pupils have also had lots of support from the Royal British Legion throughout their preparation for the play.
Jinny continued: “I had a chat with one of our main characters the other day who told me that he thought this was the best play he’d ever done.”
Stanley School moved premises 12 months ago from their old site in Thingwall to a brand new build in Pensby.
They now share the site with Pensby Primary School and Jinny says the school has achieved so much in such a short time.
Jinny added: “Pupils and staff alike are very proud of our new school and we have great plans for the future.”
