A WIRRAL musician has released an album to raise funds for the Alzheimers’ Society in memory of her grandmother.

Lilli Moore was helped by Mary Henshaw to choose the tracks for Memory Lane, a collection of covers in aid of the Alzheimers Society. Sadly Mary died from Alzheimers-related pneumonia in 2011.

Lilli, 22, from Upton has been showcasing the album with performances at care homes across Merseyside.

The singer/songwriter told the Globe: "I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible from the album's sale.

"Whatever we raise will be a bonus for the charity and so I’m happy to do whatever I can to help.

"The album’s gone down very well at performances and a few copies have been sold, which is nice.

"It's a great tribute to my nan. While she was ill she found comfort in old musical movies.

"She also helped me to choose some of the other songs for the album in particular Going Back which I feel has a connection in the lyrics to Alzheimers.

"Our favourite film to watch together was always Calamity Jane so I felt I had to include Doris Day on the album.

"The performances at nursing and care homes have been great, as they helped raise the profile of the charity and also find out for myself how Alzheimers and dementia affects people and their families."

The album is available on Amazon, Itunes and other download music websites. All profits from the album’s sales will go to the charity.

The charity is holding several fundraising events this summer and one of the main events is the Memory Walk at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool on September 8.

Lilli recorded a video to accompany the first single from the album - Sentimental Journey. It was filmed at the Loughborough wartime event in June.
