HOYLAKE lifeboat crew rescued three men from a yacht stranded on the River Mersey after its engine failed.
The vessel sailing from Conwy got into difficulties 12 miles off Wirral's coast in a strong easterly wind.
Liverpool Coastguard requested the launch of Hoylake all-weather lifeboat Lady of Hilbre to go to its aid.
The lifeboat went alongside the yacht and transferred two of its crew members on board to assist with sails and connecting the tow.
The vessel was taken to Liverpool Marina, where she was originally heading.
