TRANMERE manager Ronnie Moore was far from happy with his side's performance at Accrington Stanley on Saturday afternoon.

A goal from Chris Atkinson gave Rovers a 1-1 draw in the friendly and Moore felt his team were not sharp enough.

Moore said: “It was poor, everything was half paced. We weren’t sharp and didn’t move the ball quickly enough.

“We didn’t play well as a unit and that’s as bad as we’ve been during pre-season.

“Their goal came from our young trialist. We’ve been struggling to get a right back in but he’s not going to be good enough. A lot of their attacks came down that side so we won’t take it any further.

“I was pleased for Atkinson, he’s played well. He showed good ability, he gets on the ball and he sees the pass. But when you’ve got six or seven who don’t play well you’re lucky to come away with a result and that’s what we’ve been today.

“They looked like they were a bit tired but we have had a lot of games and it has been very hot.

“But it’s another game, another 90 minutes under the belt for a lot of them.”

On Tuesday night Rovers face Championship side Burnley at Prenton Park in another pre-season warm up.
