Police have arrested three more people in connection with the death of Wirral dad Mark Reissing.

A 46-year-old man from Wallasey was arrested on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of murder.

Two further people, a 25-year-old woman from Wallasey and a 30-year-old man from Liverpool, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All have been taken to police stations in Merseyside where they are being questioned.

Police have confirmed they are no longer looking for 46-year-old Nazzareno Abela.

They had earlier issued an appeal to the public to help trace him.

The latest arrests bring the total number in the case to five; a 37-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were held last week on suspicion of murder. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Mr Reissing’s body was found in Manor Lane near Egremont Promenade at 5.50am, on Tuesday, July 9, after a dog-walker raised the alarm.

A post mortem found he had died from multiple injuries.

His family made an emotional appeal for help in finding his killer, saying: “Nobody's dad, son, brother or uncle deserves such a horrific death.

“If anyone has any information, no matter how trivial it may seem, please contact Merseyside Police to help apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators."
