POLICE are appealing for the public's help after sentimental items were stolen from a house in Tranmere.

Officers were called to the property in Ivydale Road on the morning of Friday, June 28. Items such as jewellery and a laptop were stolen as well as a handbag.

The handbag belonged to a visitor who was staying at the address following the very recent loss of her four-year-old daughter and contained photographs, a memory card and a lock of the child's hair, all of which are irreplaceable.

Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale said: "The items of sentimental value in the handbag simply can't be replaced and the victim, already grieving for her daughter, is clearly traumatised by their loss.

"These items are of no value whatsoever to anyone else and I would ask those responsible to search their conscience and return them.

"I would also ask that people in the area keep their eyes open in case the bag or its contents have been discarded nearby."

The handbag containing the photos is a black leather handbag from River Island, with gold coloured studs along one side and diamond shaped stitching on it.
