THE owners of 70 classic cars will show them off during Wirral's 13th historic vehicle rally this weekend.

Organised by Wirral Classic Car Club, Sunday's event starts at New Brighton, ending with a prize-giving ceremony in Thornton Hough.

The 70 pre-entered vehicles are described in free programmes available from Lookers Garages in Birkenhead and Ellesmere Port and from Checkpoint and Hintons Butchers in Banks Road, West Kirby and from Thornton Hough Village Hall. Approximate timings of the event are shown below.

Wirral's Mayor, Cllr Dave Mitchell will ride in John Hughes’ 1953 Riley RME in the afternoon and present the prizes at Thornton Hough.

The event's organiser, Blair Percival told the Globe today: "This is a great opportunity to see a parade of historic vehicles, some dating back to the very earliest days of motoring with many of the entrants in period attire and with interesting information about their cars on display at the stops.

"It's a rally that has done a lot to promote Wirral since it first took place in the year 2000.

"We get entrants from all over the place. In fact, one of the guys comes all the way from Buckinghamshire and this is the only rally he enters.”
