TRANMERE Rovers' goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams has signed a new two-year contract with the club today.

The 26-year-old came to Prenton Park in July 2011 and has made 91 appearances, keeping 31 clean sheets.

He was called up for the Welsh squad for the first time last summer and has since been selected for a further eight squads.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "Owain has had two really good seasons with Tranmere so I'm pleased he will be staying with us.

"He's turned down good offers from the Championship to stay with us which shows how committed he is to doing well here.

"He's one of the best goalkeepers in League 1 and has been unlucky not to have won his first cap for Wales.

"He's a big favourite with the fans here and keeping him at the Club is a big boost for the coming season."

Rovers play their first pre-season friendly of the summer tonight, taking on Cammell Laird FC at Kirklands in Rock Ferry, kick-off 7pm.

Last season's game against Lairds ended 3-0 to Rovers with Max Power scoring twice and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro also on target.
