GILBERTSON Donald and Jocelyn Donald Stuart Gilbertson Born 2nd June 1930 Died 6th November 2023 Jocelyn Mary Gilbertson Born 20th May 1930 Died 12th October 2023 Formerly inspirational English teachers at Wirral Metropolitan College Wallasey until 1993. Much loved parents of David, Michele and Diane. Both died peacefully at home. Reunited now, and in our hearts forever.

I joined Mr Gilbertson's A Level English evening class in 1982, having left school a few years earlier and been told I wasn't A Level material. With his encouragement I was able to gain my A Levels and move on to university. I still have the card he sent congratulating me when I gained my BA Hons. I have recently retired from a successful career teaching English, having eventually reached the position of Vice Principal. Mr Gilbertson was an inspirational teacher, who combined challenge with kindness and a passion for literature. I hope I was able to pass on some of the inspiration and skills he instilled in me to my own students. I have always been grateful for his gentle encouragement and kindness. Mrs K Costello

Hello Michele / all, I was recently looking for past School & Life friends / Work colleagues etc, and came across your sad Notice regarding the death of your parents recently... I remember meeting them many times in the late 80's / early 90's when I was together with Michele, and also visiting both their home on the Wirral and also their lovely country house in beautiful Grasmere, in the Lake District.. ~ they were a great couple / family, and I'm sorry to read of your sad loss.. ~ sending my condolences to you all, Alan Jones (Cheshire based)
