POULTON Victoria assumed pole position in the race for the Carlsberg West Cheshire League's Division One title, following a 5-0 blitz of Vauxhall Motors Reserves.
Unbeaten Vics made it maximum returns from their first three outings, thanks to goals from Kevin Bimpson, Danny Edwards, Tommy Baker, Shaun Keevey and Jay Clare.
The victory maintained Vics' hundred per cent record, and kept the Wallasey challengers two points clear of reigning champions, West Kirby.
Kirby followed up Wednesday's 4-0 rout of Christleton, with 4-1 result at Ellesmere Port, which featured a smart double from Chris Barrow, as the Marine Park side bolstered their bid for a third successive title.
Aintree Villa celebrated a 6-0 eclipse of Blacon YC, courtesy of efforts from Ian Pritchard, Eric Woodward, Steve Archibald,Tony Pickup, Colin McDonald and an own goal.
Mark Rimmer and Scott Murphy struck for Maghull, in their 2-0 win against bottom club, New Brighton, while Terry Cotgrave, Jamie Kenyon and Dave Rudge found the net in Cammell Laird Res.' fine 3-0 triumph at Upton AA.
Division Two leaders, Maghull Res., made it three wins on the trot, after Mark Parvas plundered the game's only goal at pointless West Kirby Res. Second placed Mallaby maintained interest, after a goal either side of the half from Wayne Ball and Eddie Hutchinson, secured a 2-0 decision over Heswall Res., and a double from veteran, Jimmy Hilditch, helped Willaston to a 3-1 win at Bebington Ath.
Alan Locke's solitary strike was enough for Capenhurst Villa to curtail Bronze Social's unbeaten record, while reigning champions, Pouilton Vics. Res., were indebted to goals from Paul Howell and Byron Roberts for their 2-0 verdict over Chester Nomads.
On target for New Brighton Res.' in their 4-4 end to end stalemate with Southport Trinity, were Steve Jameson(2) Robbie Boyd and Anthony Daniels. John Ryan(2) Anthony Welsh and Tom Riley replied for the visitors.
Two goal Gary Lunt left his calling card for Helsby, in a 2-2 draw with title favourites Ashville, who have made a sluggish start in their campaign to return to the top flight at the first time of asking. Efforts from Adam Johnson and Kevin Park salvaged a point for John Brunt's charges.
