HOLDERS Great Float are out of the Carlsberg summer league after a dramatic finish in Group One qualifying stages.
With inauguaral winners Old Swan CC qualiying comfortably this was always the toughtest group to come through, with 2006 winners St Joseph’s, top Birkenhead outfit ESWA, reigning champs Gt Float and surprise package Touching Cloth all involved in a four way play-off for second spot and a place in the semi finals.
Eventually it was ESWA who got through with Chris Hesketh overcoming Gt Float’s Pat McNamara in a nail-biting final frame play off.
In group two There’s Always Next Year and Mercury Developments both qualified for the final stages.
League Table
Tuesday: Old Swan 28, ESWA/Gt Float/Touching Cloth/St Joseph’s 20, AJ&H Holdings 16, Deep Secrewers 15, Old Manor withdrew.
Wednesday: TANY 24, Mercury Development 23, Cue Snappers 20, Bronze Social 19, Phoenix 18, Mosslands 17, Shepherd’s Rest 17, West Kirby 2.
