A rainforest charity co-founded by Birkenhead MP Frank Field has won two star admirers.
For when former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson decided to help to protect an area of the rainforest as an unusual birthday gift for Vivienne Westwood, she contacted Mr Field's "Cool Earth" group.
And now 70 acres of endangered forest in Peru is being protected from destruction in the name of top people's designer Dame Vivienne.
Mr Field welcomed the surprise support of the American actress.
He said: "Vivienne's passionate belief in Cool Earth's work has made her one of our most cherished champions.
"How wonderful to have Pamela Anderson engaging in such an immediate way to make a positive difference to our environment by helping to save 70 acres of rainforest for Vivienne's birthday."
The actress and model, who was the muse for one of Dame Vivienne's clothing campaigns, made the gift in celebration of the designer's 70th birthday today.
Pamela said: "I'm really excited to support Cool Earth and give Vivienne such an incredible rainforest gift.
"She is one of my favourite people."
The certificate of sponsorship confirms the area of land in Peru being protected in the name of Vivienne Westwood by Pamela Anderson and Cool Earth.
This enables Cool Earth to work in partnership with the local community to make trees worth more standing than they are chopped for timber, helping to cool the planet.
