AN investigation is underway after a car exploded in a Birkenhead street last night.
Emergency services were called to Lansdowne Road at around 10pm.
A police spokesperson told the Globe: "We were called to Lansdowne Road at 9.20pm on Saturday to reports a Ford Eco sport had been set alight.
"Nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing."
It had been a busy night for firecrews, who had tackled blazes at the former Hotel California in New Chester Road, Birkenhead and a three-storey building next to the former Central Hotel on nearby Borough Road.
Anyone with information on any of the incidents is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
