MERSEYSIDE police have confirmed an investigation is on-going following a large fire at a boat shed in Hoylake last night. 

Firefighters tackled the blaze which broke out close to Hoylake Rugby Club, they also alerted police officers to the incident.  

Crews were called at around 8pm to Carham Road, following reports of a fire in a boat shed on the grounds of the club.

Three fire engines attended and found the single storey building well alight.

Teams used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the fire.

They remained at the scene until around midnight.
