A holidaymaker had a lucky escape after her camper van burst into flames as it approached the Duke Street bridge crossing in Birkenhead.
Fire crews were called to the scene near Dock Road at around 11am today.
The driver and passenger got out out the vehicle, along with their pet dog, and were trying to extinguish the flames when emergency services arrived.
One fire engine was deployed and remains at the scene.
The shocked driver who was setting off on a holiday trip at the time told the Globe: "I was driving along when the van just caught fire.
"So I stopped, got out and then it really burst into flames
"It was one of those things, but luckily we're okay."
