MERSEYSIDE'S Police and Crime Commissioner has been selected to stand for re-election.
Jane Kennedy has been in the role since she was first elected in 2012 and has been chosen by Labour members to re-stand in the upcoming elections.
Ms Kennedy said "I am delighted that the Labour Party has placed their confidence in me once more and confirmed they want me to be their candidate for this important post.
"It has been an immense privilege to be the Police Commissioner for Merseyside.
"The police force is efficient, effective and highly motivated.
"They continue to command the confidence of the public and it is an honour to work alongside them.
"Budget pressures remain a challenge but I am deeply grateful to the public of Merseyside who supported my petition calling upon the government to make no further cuts to the police.
"I will work hard to repay the trust of Labour Party members by campaigning hard alongside council candidates across the county to win for Labour in May."
