MOTORISTS faced delays this morning after a car burst into flames on the M53.

One lane was closed on the motorway between junction three at Woodchurch and junction four at Bebington as firefighters dealt with the blaze.

On arrival shortly after 6am today, Monday, firefighters found the car on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

The car was left severely damaged but North West Motorway Police said nobody was hurt.
