Do you remember anything about Birkenhead Park during the war?

Do you remember the Spitfire crashing, the allotments or air raid shelters? If you do, the park’s rangers want to hear from you!

A new exhibition called ‘The Park at War’ is to begin on September 27 until October 12 in the Visitors Centre Gallery. A key part of it will be a display of information from members of the public about the park during the Second World War. Organisers are appealing to members of the public to write down their own memories no matter how long or short and send them in to be on show in written form.

They would also like to view any pictures that you have from that era that you would be happy for them to use.

If you would like to contribute, your information should be submitted to the Park by Thursday, September 11.

Send it, along with your name and address, to Birkenhead Park Visitors Centre, Park Drive, Birkenhead Park, Wirral CH41 7HY for the attention of Karen Tucker or pass it in to the pavilion at any time.

Clare Naylor, Wirral Council media office.
